Well, I’ve decided to take the plunge and release myself from anonymity. With this post I’ll link this blog to my website and let the minute portion of the world who cares learn much more about me and where I live. Don’t get too close; I’m trained with my guns.
For the last few years I’ve been experimenting with drawing scenery from the area where I live. I’ve had a friend put together a website and most of my recent work is here.
I’ve always loved to draw. When we moved up here it gave me a chance to see a drawing almost every day, whether I glance out the window or spend days in the wilderness. (The older three girls and I are backpacking into the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness tonight, beginning as soon as I get home from work.) I take a camera with me, and if the light and the subject harmonize, I may capture the seed of a drawing.
These are from a jaunt the girls and I took years ago into Trout Creek. It was early spring, the light was just right, and I thought it might work out into a nice drawing. The birches around here can be quite rough, covered with lichens and scars, but they have a habit of bending and leaning with an unintentional grace. That’s what I tried to capture in this drawing.
My work has changed over the years, most notably by getting larger. Right now the biggest I can go is limited by the size of the board I can purchase: 30” x 40”. I’m feeling constricted by that. Maybe I’ll cover future drawings in this post, but for some reason I don’t have much time to draw lately. If not, you can always read more on my website.
As always, I welcome comments on my blog, my work, life, projects, etc.
Wow. Those drawings are great!I love to read your blog. Each post is so uplifting and has so much truth to it. Good luck with the financial planning!
This piece of the birches has always been one of my favorites, ever since I saw by the door in your little gray house, once upon a time.Best of luck with the planning.
