Abby Long’s Homemade Twix Bars
Crust:
2 cubes butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups flour
To make crust, cream butter and sugar. Add flour. Knead (or mix) and pat into a jellyroll pan (deep cookie sheet). Bake at 350 for 15-20 min., or until golden brown. Let cool.
Filling:
2 cubes butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
4 Tbsp light corn syrup
To make filling, combine above ingred. in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook, constantly stirring, for a couple of minutes (until light brown in color). Take off heat and let cool slightly. Stir again and pour over crust.
Topping:
1 bag choc chips (Abby says milk choc., but I like semi-sweet)
Sprinkle over caramel. Let melt for 3-4 min. and spread lightly with rubber scraper until top is covered with chocolate. Let cool completely and cut into bars.
This stuff is horribly addictive, so you may want to share some with a friend to keep yourself from eating the whole thing. Thanks Abby! Enjoy!
Next week is the art of making soup.
