Doug & Jessica Fluckiger were married in 1995 and have (count ‘em) seven children. On purpose. In 2007 we bought ten acres in the mountains, put in a driveway, sunk a well (705 feet deep, actually) and built the dream house we’d been designing for two years. We heat with wood, gather eggs, grow and can our own food, and cook from scratch. We’re not survivalists (we’re on the grid, and Doug has a technology job in town), but we like to do what we can to ensure our own independence.
We’re a mite occupied with seven kids, two dogs, two cats, various & sundry poultry, a garden, greenhouse, berry patch, small orchard, herb garden, and a forested back yard the size of Switzerland. This blog follows our adventures.
